George Gagnidze makes Bologna debut as Macbeth
On April 13 and 18, George Gagnidze reprises the title role of Verdi’s Macbeth for his house debut at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna. The new production by Jacopo Gassmann is conducted by Daniel Oren and also features Ekaterina Semenchuk / Daniela Schillaci as Lady Macbeth, Riccardo Fassi as Banco, Antonio Poli / Paolo Antognetti as Macduff, Anna Cimmarrusti as Dama di Lady Macbeth, Marco Miglietta as Malcolm, Kwangisk Park as Il medico and Gabriele Ribis as Il sicaro, L’araldo and Un domestico di Macbeth.
“I am very happy to make my debut with one of Italy’s most important opera companies”, says George Gagnidze. “It is always a huge pleasure to work with Maestro Daniel Oren, and when he asked me to sing Macbeth with him in this new production I was very glad to accept.”
George Gagnidze made his role debut as Macbeth in 2012 at the Metropolitan Opera. He later reprised the part at the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa, the Ópera de Las Palmas of Gran Canaria and most recently at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia and in concert at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

“Tosca” to open new Shanghai Grand Opera House with La Fenice
On 22 and 24 October 2026, George Gagnidze sings Scarpia in Teatro La Fenice’s production of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca at the Shanghai Grand Opera House (Harmony Hall). The performances mark the first ever opera production to be presented at this spectacular new opera house.

Boston Lyric Opera Debut as Guillaume Tell
George Gagnidze launches his 2026/27 season with his Boston Lyric Opera debut, returning to the title role of Rossini’s Guillaume Tell. Opening on September 25 at the Emerson Colonial Theatre, the new production inaugurates the company’s 50th anniversary season and marks the first fully staged presentation of Rossini’s epic opera in Boston in more than 150 years.

Poland Debut as Scarpia in Monumental Open-Air “Tosca” in Warsaw
This Sunday, June 28, 2026, George Gagnidze will make his highly anticipated Poland debut. He will portray his signature role, the menacing Baron Scarpia, in a spectacular, large-scale open-air concert version of Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece, Tosca in Warsaw.

George Gagnidze opens “Rigoletto” at the Shangyin Opera House in Shanghai
George Gagnidze returns to one of his signature Verdi roles this weekend, singing the title role in Rigoletto at the Shangyin Opera House in Shanghai. The production opens on June 12, with a second performance on June 14.

Macbeth at Opera Carlo Felice Genoa
George Gagnidze returns to Opera Carlo Felice for Verdi’s Macbeth in a new production by Fabio Ceresa, conducted by Sesto Quatrini. Performances are scheduled for May 15, 17, 22, and 24.
